Nerd Alert, Nerd Alert!

Brenna loves to read.  We have been blessed with 2 children who both love to read at a very young age and I love it.  The pictures below are from a day where Brenna just went into her room and started "reading" all by herself while everybody else was in other parts of the house.  Adorable!

Father's Day Outtakes

For Father's Day 2012 I got all creative, i.e., copied an idea from Pinterest, and made a cute picture frame for Dad with the kids holding the letters, D-A-D.

Can I tell you how, um, challenging it was to try and get 2 kids to hold up letters and sit still and make decent faces for these pictures?  Challenging would be a kind word for it.  We had success, but not before I took plenty of unusable pictures.

Here's a sampling of what I didn't use!

And the winning pictures.  Not too shabby!

First haircut

Brenna got her first haircut on June 20, 2012.  Mom had an appointment with Miss Judy, so Dad and the kids tagged along for Brenna's haircut and some quality playtime with Miss Judy's daughter, Jurnee.

Brenna did pretty decent, though I had to hold her and hold her head.  That girl is really not a fan of sitting still for any period of time.

Everything is better when you can suck on your thumb.

No visit would be complete without Brady doing something crazy.  Here he was just goofing around in the blow dryer chair (or whatever you call that contraption!).
And tada!!  No more mullet!!  She actually didn't have a ton to cut off; just a little trim to even everything out since some strands were really long and others, well, not so much.

Interaction

Yes, yes, yes,  I am trying to make up for lost time by doing some super blogging.

I'm not able to catch many videos of Brady and Brenna interacting with each other, but I caught a quick one after church the other day.  Nothing major, just a little tiff over a book.  Brenna is starting to get more sass to her and therefore, sasses at her brother.  And Brady is none too happy about the fact that Brenna's favorite toys to play with are his trucks and his legos.  The girl could less about her toys; she wants what Brady has.
Pretty sure this interaction will replay about a million times in our house over the next 15 years.

Summer fun in the neighborhood

I realize I sound like a broken record (maybe not on the blog, but certainly in life), but I adore our neighborhood.  This oppressive heat is kind of putting a damper on our playtime since it's still 100 degrees when we get home in the evenings, but we'll manage through it.
We are so blessed with the awesomeness of our neighborhood.  It's great to be at the end of a dead-end street and have neighbors that are fantastic.  And having kids near the own age of our own to play with is even better.

Here's Edee and Brady off for a ride in the truck.

Tucker and Brady going for a drive.

And now maybe you understand why the pedaling took so long to master.  Why pedal when you can just hop in a truck to drive to your destination?

Learning to Pedal

Brady has finally mastered his ability to pedal the tricycle.  He's known how to do it for quite some time, however, he just hasn't WANTED to do it.  I blame it on the truck--why pedal when you can just push a gas pedal and go?  Our son is no dummy.
But, he has done much better lately on the pedalin skills and I finally caught a brief video of it.

We've got a Walker!

She walks!  And to borrow some phrasing from The Plummer Posse, not just a walker but a I'm-not-messing-around-with-this-crawling-business-anymore kind of walker.
I'm a little late in posting, but 6-14-2011 was the big date.  Brenna's been doing great holding onto hands and furniture and anything else, but just couldn't let go to walk on her own.
Well, let go she did and she was off!

Let the increased mobility begin!
