6 month stats

I took Brady to his 6-month checkup this morning. Turns out the little guy has an ear infection. He had a cold before we went to the Big 12 Tournament and I took him to the doctor, but they didn't find any fluid in his ears or anything alarming. Well, he had fluid in his ears today. Not too much, but enough to necessitate a round of antibiotics. Brady never did have a fever or stop eating, so the doctor said "he appears to have a higher tolerance for pain."

So, the vital statistics. He weighs a whopping 13 pounds, which isn't even on the charts. He is 24 1/2 inches long, which places him the 1% category. And his head is int he 97% category. He has a huge head, but otherwise is short and skinny. The doctor said he's gaining weight at an appropriate pace and he's probably genetically predisposed to being slender, so he's not worried. I told him Brady's feeding schedule and he chuckled--said Brady clearly doesn't have a problem eating food, so that bodes well for the future.

Here's the precious guy this morning hanging out before we went to the doctor.

Big 12 Baseball Tournament

We only took one picture while in OKC last week. This one is from our game against Texas on Saturday. Brady was sick and tired and just wouldn't fall asleep to take a nap, so you get one of the unhappy looks in this picture.

Adventures in Sweet Potatoes

We are starting the process of introducing food (if you can call it that) to the little tyke. Last night we tried some sweet potatoes for the first time. They were a big hit. Gave him a few bites at first just to see if he liked them, and then he devoured the entire container. So, sweet potatoes are a go! And he didn't even make much of a mess. This is about the cleanest he ever looks after feeding time. Mesmerized by the camera, once again.

6 months old!

Well, Brady is officially 6 months old (and a few days). We took his picture on Friday, but didn't manage to get on the computer to upload it. We've been to Oklahoma City for the Big 12 Baseball Tournament. Brady is almost sitting up on his own--he can only hold it for a few seconds before he topples over, but he's getting there.

We don't visit the doctor until this Friday, so we'll have new numbers then. He's still a skinny little thing. I took him to the doctor before we went to OKC because he had a cold and he only weighed about 13 pounds. He's had a terrible cough and lots of mucus and non-fun stuff. But, he appears to be on the mend now.

That's How I Roll, Part II

Brady rolls both ways now! Last Thursday, May 7th, we got home from a get-together about 8:30 and Brady was not ready to sleep. He wanted to play. We plopped him down on the grown-up bed watched as he rolled from back to tummy and then tummy to back. Woohoo! It's so great you get 2 videos of it.

We run/jog/walk/try not to die.

We broke out the jogging stroller for the first time over the weekend. After I got home from work on Friday, I decided we'd see how Brady could handle the super-duper stroller and it's sweet suspension system. We didn't go far; just around the neighborhood. But getting it broken in for my marathon training. I'm running the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 11th with my friends Kristin & Shelby and a whole bunch of other gals. Should be a fun time!!

Getting started. I need to find some baby shades for the kiddo. Mom, Mom, I'm getting blinded here. Can't you do something about that sun??
Aaaah, this is nice. Chilling out with my finger in my mouth.
The jog/walk went well. Brady seemed to enjoy it. I can't see anything but his feet through the canopy, but he was kicking up a storm, which is typically a sign that he's happy.
