Watch me crawl.

Yep, the crawling has shifted into full force. We're all over the place now. Still occasionally doing the Army crawl, but we've been doing all fours a lot more. Better get the baby-proofing done--this kid is on the move!

And more crawling

And even more

Can you tell he loves magazines!

Clap, clap

Oh how we love to clap. In the past couple of weeks Brady has figured out how to clap with both hands open instead of keeping one fist closed. It's good stuff.

Notice the crazy hair--not quite like the mohawk picture, but the craziness still exists.
And yes, that is a Chiefs outfit. It's only July, but we're ready for football since the Royals haven't provided much to cheer for lately.

I've got Teeth!

I apologize you have to look up his nose, but we've got a shot of the teeth. Both of them! Tooth #1 - July 17th on the right side. Tooth #2 - July 19th on the left side.

Now he's got 2 front teeth! Bring on the steak.

8 Months, 8 months Old!

Yep, that's right. Brady is already 3/4 of a year old. We were able to get just a couple of pictures this morning. He's quite squirmy--sitting still next to Pooh is next to impossible these days. I don't know how my friend Kelly was able to get Peyton to sit so nicely next to her stuffed animal--must get the secret!

At 8 months old, here's what Brady is doing: crawling on hands and knees, but just for a few feet; Army crawling all over the place; sitting up on his own; clapping with both hands open; making loud noises; babbling both dadadadada and mamamamama; eating all veggies except peas; and eating pears, applesauce, peaches and apple-strawberry-banana mixture. He also has his top two teeth at 8 months.

Strange animal in the backyard

So, we've got this creature in the backyard. Can anyone tell me what it is? It's not a beaver, a raccoon, or a possum. Maybe a muskrat, but they usually hang out around swampy areas and I don't think our forested back yard qualifies as swampy, but who knows. I'm hoping somebody out there can tell me what this thing is.

More sleeping baby

I know it's nothing exciting, but isn't he so cute when he's sleeping?

More Army crawling

This is just another video of the Army crawl that Brady has mastered. He did crawl over the weekend on his hands and knees, but just for a few feet. I imagine it will be another couple of weeks before we master that skill and can tape it for posterity! In the meantime, he still has no problem moving around.

How does this phone work?

The kiddo does love electronics. Here he is playing with his toy cell phone. He primarily puts it in his mouth--like everything else these days.

Another tooth for Brady and road rash for Mom.

Big weekend, indeed. Tooth #1 was on Friday and tooth #2 greeted us on Sunday morning. So now we've got 2 front teeth. I have no pictures to show you--you can imagine getting an 8-month old to be still and open up his mouth long enough for a picture isn't the most easy thing to do.

And, while resting my sore bum I had a little bike accident. I woke early Sat. morning to go on a little bike ride while one of my marathon buddies ran a nice 7 miles. Weather and conditions were perfect. I'd like to have a great story about why I have road rash on my legs, but no, I just lost my balance trying to get off the bike when we were all done. I could take a picture of it, but really, who wants to see that grossness.

And, the bike riding is necessary because my bum is sore indeed. I don't really know the problem. I had an SI joint that wasn't rotating properly, but the physical therapist said that's all fixed. My masseuse thinks I have a small tear in my piriformis muscle, which would require 4-6 weeks of rest to heal. And if I don't run for 4-6 weeks, there's no way I can whip out 26.2 miles in October. So, I'm at a crossroads and trying to figure out what to do. Punt the marathon and try again for a different one or suffer through? Stay tuned to find out!

Milestone Weekend

Whew! It's a big weekend at our house and it's only Saturday afternoon. Brady's first tooth popped through yesterday (July 17th). It's the front, right one on the top. And it looks like his other front tooth is going to come out any day to join the party. Yeah!! He didn't seem too bothered by the ordeal, so that's good.

And this morning, Brady finally crawled. Not Army crawl, but crawling on the hands and knees. It was only a few feet before he flopped back down to his belly and scooted around, but at least he crawled.

I'm hoping I'll have some pictures to post on Monday of our milestones. What else could we accomplish over the weekend?

Kind of crawling

I have all kinds of posts. My goodness, I'm getting all kinds of videos and pictures put up! Well, Brady doesn't crawl on all fours, but he scoots around pretty good. What he does is probably considered an Army crawl. We've got a couple of videos of it. This one is Brady coming towards the camera, trying to eventually put it in his mouth. He does love electronics-camera, Blackberry, remote, etc. They're all things Brady would like to grab and put in his mouth all the time.

Discovery of the Pacifier

So, Brady hasn't been a pacifier user for quite awhile. Sometime around month 3, he discovered his index finger was much more readily available, so he's been sucking on his fingers rather than his pacifier for a few months now. However, he has recently re-discovered his pacifier. But only for chewing purposes. I don't know if it makes his teeth feel better or what it does, but he plays with it like any other toy.

Jumparoo!

Brady loves the jumparoo, although the still shot from the beginning of the video sure doesn't look like it! This video is 3 weeks old; he's grown enough that he doesn't need that book underneath his feet anymore. We had to use that because he was in between the 1 and 2 marks.

More bath time

These pictures are almost a month old, but I've meaning to post them. Brady enjoys bath time for the most part, but he DOES NOT like getting his face wet. And he makes that very clear to anyone who bathes him. This pictures is obviously pre-head wetting.
And here we are post-bath, wrapped up and all nice and cozy.
We've got quite the bath routine now. Brady moved out of his tub and straight into the big tub on July 3rd with no problems. He sits and plays with his toys and splashes and has all kinds of fun. We bathe him and then get him all nice and dry. Then we put on the pj's and the last thing we do is sit him in front of the mirror to comb his hair while he plays with more toys. I can't tell if he likes the mirror more or the toys.

Happy 4th of July

Here a couple of pictures we took on the 4th of July. Brady is all decked out in some Royals gear--got to support our team even when their performance is awful! He doesn't sit still very long, but we were able to capture a few moments. Look at those blue eyes--cute, cute, cute! Then again, I'm the mom so I may be a little biased!

Kauffman Stadium

Well, the new Kauffman stadium is beautiful. Can't wait to take Brady, because there is a ton of fun stuff for kids in the outfield area. The whole experience is great. That is, until it's time for the first pitch. The Royals lost to the White Sox the night we attended. Bah humbug. But besides the actual game it was great. Oh, and besides the fact I gimped around the entire night--nursing a little injury from marathon training! It was Buck Night, so we enjoyed some dollar hot dogs, Pepsi drinks and peanuts. On top of it, it was also Fireworks Friday. The fireworks were great. It started to rain, so I think they ended them quickly by shooting off everything they had in the last 30 seconds. But still a great time!

Updates

Whew! We've been MIA for the last several days enjoying some time away from work, computers, Blackberries, etc. It was fun, for the most part, but now it's time for mom to dig out from the pile of work that greeted her this morning!

I'll be posting lots of pictures this week, but here's a synopsis of the last few days. We had a great 4th of July. Brian and I watched fireworks on July 3rd at the Royals game (which was great, except for the actual game). Got to see more fireworks on July 4th and Brady slept right through those, which isn't all bad since it was past his bedtime. On Monday morning, July 6th, Brady had a fever of 102 and was really, really fussy. So, we took him to an urgent care clinic and he was diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease because he had blisters in his mouth. I honestly thought only animals carried that disease, so I learned something new. So, we had to scrap our plans to visit the Hairstons in Columbia since it's a contagious virus. Brady had a couple of rough nights without much sleep, but his fever broke Wednesday morning and then we went back to normal. We took him to our normal doctor on Thursday because he's still small. They ran a whole bunch of tests and drew some blood, but everything came back normal. He's just small. And that's what we thought that whole time--it's not like we have any huge grandparents or siblings!

Still no crawling on hands and knees, but the kid army crawls like crazy. He moves wherever he wants. And he's doing lots of babbling. And of course, his favorite babbling is dadadadadada. I don't think it counts as the first word yet, but I'm sure Dada will be word #1 in a couple of months. He's drooling all over the place, but no teeth yet. I think that's only a matter of time as well, but who knows.

Okay, pictures to come later!
