37 Weeks

Congratulations! Your baby is full-term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away. He weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long.


Between the random contractions and the back pain, I'm ready for the baby to arrive now. Alas, I think we still have to wait awhile. The doctor's appointment this week is Wednesday because our doctor is leaving for a missions trip to Europe on Thursday. I'm still retaining fluid, which is not such a fun development. I've been drinking tons of water, but with no success. My toes don't quite look like little sausages, but I feel like they do! On Halloween I had to take my wedding ring off because it no longer fits. It took a lot of cold water and soap to get it off; I thought it was going to be stuck on for awhile. Ah, the joys of pregnancy!
